Just so overtaxed and now two solid waste fees! It just seems so unfair here in VLE!

Did you know that if you live in unincorporated Indian River County you pay two solid waste fees for a total of $372 added onto your property taxes each year, but if you live in one of the municipalities like the City of Vero Beach, City of Sebastian, or City of Fellsmere, you only have one show up on your TRIM to pay a Solid Waste fee of $188 on your Ad Valorem tax? How is this fair to the unincorporated resident homeowners? Why the discrepancy? Why do we have to pay two solid waste fees? Yet, the municipalities only have one show up on their taxes? On top of it, where we live in Vero Lake Estates(midway between Fellsmere and Sebastian) the majority of the roads are all dirt roads and you never see any sheriff or policing here, cars driving 60 mph down 87th Street when it is posted as 35mph. Also, we have to pay $50 for street lights on our taxes too each year. I do not see this in any of the municipalities. If you own a newer house within the past five years or so you pay upward of $4000 or more in taxes to the county altogether. We pay a lot and we have redundant solid waste fees on our tax bill. It has increased our taxes the past two years now about 10%. It seems very unfair. I wrote to the county commission about this last year, no one bothered to call or write back from the county. I will write to the State of Florida. Does anyone else feel like we are being overly taxed in this county? Especially for solid waste pickup in light of knowing that when you research TRIM notices in all areas of the county you will see that in Vero Beach, Fellsmere, and Sebastian, they only pay one solid waste fee, yet the unincorporated areas have a double fee. Does the State of Florida allow this? Why don’t our elected who represent the unincorporated parts of the county stand up for us so that we only have one fee too? Indian River County puts thousands of new homes on the tax rolls each year, but we do not see our taxes lowered, they just keep going up each year, yet we never see any more police or schools built, CR 510 is still a rundown bumpy single lane road that is in need of major repair. Where does all this tax money go to? Why do we have to pay two solid waste fees when all other cities in the county only pay one? Does anyone else ever complain to the county, do they listen or call you back? All of this may drive us right out of Florida. Praying when we vote in November that we can pass the property tax bill to lower our taxes, $150k for 2027 and then beyond $250K homestead deduction, it should help some! It just all seems so unfair, the two solid waste fees! There is a lot of greed in our government! Just such high taxes and fees!
