Yes, we need to keep VLE a quiet residential neighborhood!
I wanted to take the time to write to say I agree with J.M. from PSL who wrote about where is the fairness… in the recent newspaper here on 8/6/26. I agree with his editorial. He was saying how in PSL in his neighborhood the county leadership is overlooking and allowing so many businesses in his residential neighborhood and they are causing so many problems for their quality of life. Our elected officials are failing our good citizens by allowing big businesses to operate in residential areas for sure. We live in Vero Lake Estates in Indian River County, in the northern part of the county. It is a quadrant of thousands of homes, a residential area with speed limits of 35mph on paved roads and 30mph on dirt roads. Most of the roads here are dirt roads. We have a big problem with businesses like a construction company operating out of their home. We have one a few blocks from our home up the road, it is a real eyesore, junk all over, I feel sorry for any people who live on and around a construction company or big business like this, they run heavy equipment seven days a week, trucks, bulldozers, backhoes in tow, etc., up and down the road hundreds of times a day drawing up so much dust and noise all day long. We have lost our peace in our residential neighborhood. There are so many businesses operating in our VLE neighborhood now, trucks all over, the dust, traffic, and noise has become unbearable. We moved here to have a peaceful country life, it used to be nice many years ago when we first moved here, not anymore, it is out of control with so many businesses operating in our residential neighborhood, speeding cars and trucks going 60-70mph down 87th Street all day, and just so much over building doing away with all our woods and wildlife. I agree, we need to protect the residents from construction companies and big businesses from operating in defined residential neighborhoods like the other writer spoke about in his editorial. It is less desirable to live here now in VLE and we are considering moving out of state back to more country like living where I was born up north. I wish the county elected officials and law enforcement would better enforce the laws/rules for residential neighborhoods here and prohibit big businesses from operating in our residential neighborhood so we can have more peace and quiet and kids can play safely.
